Rome: The Birth of an Empire

According to traditional stories, the ancient city of Rome originated with the legendary character Romulus, a descendent of the Trojan prince Aeneas. He and his twin brother, Remus, were the onscreen of Rhea Silvia and Mars, the god of war. Because of a prophecy that foretold Silvia's offspring as potential threats to his rule, the King, Amulius, ordered them to be thrown into the River Tiber. The brothers survived, were suckled by a she-wolf, and then shepherd Faustulus and his wife, Larentia, found and raised them. When Romulus and Remus grew up, they killed King Amulius and decided to establish a city. However, a quarrel between the twins emerged over the new city's location, which concluded in Remus
